The National Hydropower Association (NHA) is a professional organization that seeks to promote the development of Hydropower throughout America. NHA is "dedicated to preserving and expanding clean, reliable, affordable hydropower and marine energy" (hydro.org). This organization is responsible for putting on the Clean Currents conference, which is happening in Pittsburg, PA in October, 2025. The conference seeks to facilitate research in the field of hydropower as well as communication between owners, contractors, and regulators in the industry.
The Red Hat Society is a women's only organization formed to encourage women to live their lives to the fullest. This society was initially for women 50+, but now is open to younger members as well. This society hosts events for primarily women, although certain events are open to members' husbands and sons depending. The Guardian Angels is a nonprofit organization in various cities throughout the globe. They raise awareness of various issues and are open to everyone. This organization was originally founded in 1979 in New York City. This organization seeks to create better communities through volunteer work including feeding the homeless, mentoring youths, and conducting unarmed community patrols. The Guardian Angels have come to the forefront of the news in recent weeks as they pledged to return to the subways of New York and Washington DC.
