Idaho House Bill No. 10 was introduced on January 14, 2025. It limits the flags and banners allowed to be displayed by schools to flags that are: "(a) the United States flag; (b) the official flag of the state of Idaho... or any other political subdivision... within the state; (c) official flags of any state... (d) Official flags of recognized foreign nations; (e) school flags; (f)... military branches and units (g)... Indian tribes (h) flags or banners... awarded for achievements; or (i)... representing official school mascots and colors." This bill seeks to make all students feel welcome in schools by preventing political viewpoints from being displayed by the school or teachers in a classroom. This bill was returned to the Education Committee on January 24, 2025.
On January 9th, 2023, a bill was introduced into the House of Representatives called "H.R. 38 - Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act." This bill intends to make it legal for an individual to carry a concealed handgun across state lines as long as they are allowed to carry in their state of residency. This would make concealed carry permits behave like drivers licenses and citizens of states with Constitutional Carry would be automatically allowed to carry in other states.
Donald Trump got inaugurated on January 20, 2025. He came in with a fierce agenda and with many campaign promises. On his first day he signed many executive orders and got many things done. Enough that he made 5 pages of news on the white house website before 10:30 pm the day of his inauguration. Perhaps he completely overhauled the website graphics too, or I may have just not signed onto the website in a while. Anyhow, what did he do? Does it line up with what he said he would do? And what does that mean for the average citizen? These are all interesting questions that need answers.
